Google Transitioning All Official Blogs to Googleblog.com from Blogspot

Being able to spot official Google blogs just got a bit easier.  Google is now transitioning all of their official blogs away from Blogspot URLs to new blogs on the Googleblog.com domain.

There has been confusion over the years about whether some blogs are truly official blogs or not, and there are also many non-official Google blogs that are also hosted on Blogspot complicating the situation.  So this change was definitely needed.

Google’s John Mueller also joked about it being a good time to test out Google’s official site migration tips too.

One unfortunate side affect of the transition is that all legacy Google+ comments will be reset as the transition happens.  So if any comments are important on any posts from official Google blogs that haven’t transitioned yet, you will want to do that pretty quick.  There is no timeline for the transitions, just that the various Google blogs would change “over time.”

All saved bookmarks and links to all old URLs will continue to work and redirect to the new version of each blog.
