Here is an example of the new recipes carousel.
It has a “Recipes” section header and a searcher can scroll to see the remaining results. There are a total of 9 listings in the carousel, similar to how many types of carousels are limited to 9 by Google in the mobile search results.
Clicking on a result would lead to the recipe page. These linked pages were not in AMP format – while we know Google plans to expand AMP in the search results, this carousel is not AMP.
Google is pulling recipes from multiple sources, including Food Network, IncredibleEgg (which also has the first regular search result), Simply Recipes, The Kitchn and AllRecipes. So this carousel isn’t restricted to a single site as the source of recipes.
Google was testing a variation of a recipe carousel earlier this year, which was stylized to show specific information about the recipe, but it was only pulling from a single recipe site but Google seems to have discontinued testing this one.
The new carousel does seem to be a very limited test, as I was unable to trigger it for other queries.
