Bing Testing Huge Oversized Text for First Result Title

bing large title serpsBing seems to be testing an oversized title tag in the search results, one that makes the listing that use it much more noticeable in the search results.

Here is how it looks:

bing large text title serps

What is really noticeable is that the first result isn’t even matching the entire query.  So Bing isn’t supersizing the title of that particular result because it is 100% certain that it is the only result I could possibly want.  It would be less surprising to see it show up for an exact match result, such as searching “Macys” and Bing supersizes the Macys.com result.

While this particular query is pretty non-competitive, imagine if that query had been something more commercial in nature, or if it was expanded to Bing Ads.

Here is how are a couple examples of that same search, but without the oversized title for the first result.

It seems to be a limited test, but a pretty significant one.  If Bing decided to super size the first result, I am fairly certain the CTR would skyrocket for that first result, and it would put even more pressure on the first result, especially for those sites that get a lot of Bing traffic.
